The New Writing Company was created in January 2002 by a group of writers working in and around the Bristol area. Individually, each of the writers have written short plays which have debuted in a variety of venues both in Bristol and beyond. The decision to create a company solely committed to developing new writing and nurturing new writers followed the season of writing produced by Simon Harvey-Williams and Phil John at the New Vic Basement in the autumn of 2001.
The aims of the company are simple: to create a forum for new writing and new writers around the area who need a vehicle to show their work. To that end we are collaborating with directors and theatre practitioners who support new work and enjoy engaging with new voices.
